MUSCAT // Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said has returned home from Germany after undergoing “successful” medical checks.
The 75-year-old spent around two months in Germany and arrived home late on Tuesday “after completing routine medical examinations ... which showed good, hoped-for results”, the royal court said in a statement read out on state television.
Sultan Qaboos previously spent eight months in Germany for medical treatment before returning to Oman in March last year. State television reported at the time that his treatment had been a “total success”.
Since then he has made only short public appearances.
The sultan, who has ruled Oman since 1970, is the Middle East’s longest-reigning monarch.
