In pictures: West Bank refugees more concerned about life than politics

Set up in 1952 to take in thousands of refugees who fled their homes after the establishment of Israel, Balata is a 1km patch of city on the outskirts of Nablus that is now home to around 30,000 people. There may have been optimism in the West Bank and Gaza since Fatah and Hamas brought to an end seven years of internecine fighting and formed a unity government in May, but here in Balata the concern is life rather than politics.
