Second man falls to his death in Canary Wharf

Two men have died within 24 hours of each other in East London

Two men have fallen to their deaths within 24 hours of each other in London’s second financial district, Canary Wharf.

The first man, believed to be 32, died on Monday afternoon after falling from an escalator at Canary Wharf tube station.

Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.

A second man died during rush hour on Tuesday morning after he had "fallen from height" in nearby Cabot Place shopping centre.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene at 8.44am but the man, believed to be in his 50s, could not be saved.

Eyewitnesses told the London Evening Standard the man was dressed in a suit.

Canary Wharf Group, the centre’s owner, tweeted: “We can confirm there was a fatality this morning on the Estate. This is subject to an on-going police enquiry. Our thoughts are with the individual’s family at this difficult time. We are unable to comment further at this time.”
