Northern Ireland's police have arrested a 46-year-old man under the Terrorist Act in connection with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee, 29, in the city of Derry. Detectives said they had searched properties in various parts of Derry on Thursday. Ms McKee was shot dead by dissident republicans whilst covering rioting in the city in April, the day before Good Friday. “Since Lyra was murdered following violent disorder in Creggan in Derry/Londonderry on 18th April, our investigation has received widespread support from the community,” said Detective Superintendent Jason Murphy, “I still want to hear from anyone who has any information and would appeal to the public to contact my team of detectives on 101,” he added in a statement. The murder of Ms McKee sparked a wave of anger at the perpetrators on the island of Ireland and further afield.
