British journalist Ian Bailey was arrested in Dublin on Monday to face extradition to France in connection with the murder of a French film producer in Ireland 22 years ago.
It comes as the Irish High Court finally endorsed his extradition after previous requests were refused.
Bailey, 62, denies killing Sophie Toscan du Plantier, whose bruised and battered body was found while she was on holiday in Ireland in December 1996.
But he was sentenced in absentia to 25 years in jail by a French court in May.
He was also ordered to pay €115,000 (£102,000) to the French agency that compensated her family for her loss.
Bailey, who is originally from Manchester, had been living in Toormore, County Cork.
Bailey, who has always denied involvement in the murder, had refused to attend the murder trial in France.
