MUMBAI // Varsha Bhosle, the daughter of playback singer Asha Bhosle, committed suicide at their Peddar Road residence in Mumbai today.
Varsha, 56, shot herself at around 12.30pm (11am UAE) according to Indian police investigating at the scene, adding that a suicide note has been found.
The area surrounding the Bhosle residence has been cordoned off. Varsha lives with her mother, who is currently attending a function in Singapore. A flat in the building is also occupied by Asha's elder sister and singing legend Lata Mangeshkar.
Varsha, who worked as a freelance journalist, was divorced and had also tried to commit suicide in 2008 and 2010.
