The National is seeking an experienced Deputy Multimedia Editor to become part of our successful and expanding international operation. We are looking for a creative, hardworking individual with a love of journalism and a keen eye for detail. You will be required to support the Head of Multimedia in expanding the growth of the audience and managing the scheduling, administration, editing, planning, producing, and publishing of news and feature videos for our digital platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical know-how, good leadership skills, sound editorial judgment, be creative and responsive - and keen to grow our video offering. A knowledge of the Middle East and languages of the region is preferred.

You should be fluent in English. Experience in video shooting, editing, and script supervision are a must.

You would work with the rest of our Abu Dhabi based foreign team and our network of bureaux and correspondents across the Gulf, Middle East, North Africa and beyond. Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in political sciences, communications, journalism or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of experience in journalism, with a focus on regional news
• Brainstorm news ideas with correspondents and reporters
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English and spoken Arabic
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Are you a passionate sports editor with an eye for detail? Are you able to mentor a team of reporters and provide guidance and feedback to enhance their skills? Position Overview:

The National is looking for a Geo-economics Editor to produce and oversee our macroeconomic coverage, focusing in particular on the way macroeconomics, geopolitics and business intersect in the Mena region and beyond. As well as writing and producing your own stories, the successful candidate will have a leadership role guiding reporters to make their stories stronger with added context of the wider economic background. Candidates should have a deep knowledge of economics and be firmly across business sectors including technology, finance, property and energy in the region and the geopolitical connections between them. You will need a deep understanding of regional economies and the ability to identify leads, developments and topics for analysis from English and ideally Arabic language sources.

Candidates should have at least five years’ journalism experience of writing and editing with a reputable business or news title and a network of contacts to inform your work.

Experience in data and multimedia journalism and Arabic language skills are an advantage. The job is office-based in Abu Dhabi.

A keen interest in and understanding of the news agenda in the Middle East is a strong advantage. You must have newsroom experience working in data journalism. Candidates should be proficient in relevant tools and applications.

The successful candidate will report to our head of data visualisation journalism and work closely with our other data journalists, our infographic artists and our design team.
