The Emirates Red Crescent has completed the first of 15 development projects aimed at improving healthcare and education as part foreign aid to Yemen.
According to state news agency Wam, the project consists of maintaining and equipping a dormitory in the Governorate of Shabwa in Yemen to house 200 students.
The ERC said the project, the fifth in the series of the chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s initiatives in Yemen, will provide the students with proper living facilities.
The students said that the project will help their learning environment and better succeed in continuing their studies.
Many of the students living in the dormitory have come from outside of the Shabwa governate and would have otherwise have had no option but to go back to their homes rather than continue their studies.
