Worker denies attempting to molest girl, 10, Dubai court hears

DUBAI // A man who works for an Iranian family denied trying to molest their 10-year-old daughter.

Prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court that the girl was spending the night at her grandmother’s house in Al Satwa in December last year when the incident happened early in the morning.

She woke up earlier than the rest of the family and was watching television when Pakistani MK, 31, allegedly asked her to get undressed.

She refused but he then pulled her towards him by the hand, she said, and tried to kiss her on the lips.

The girl’s father, AT, 48, told the court: “My daughter came to me and said she wanted to tell me something but asked me not to get angry at her, which I promised I wouldn’t.

“She told me what MK had done. She said he asked her to take off her trousers and to allow him to kiss her and how she felt too scared and ran out of the room. I went to talk to him and he confessed to me.”

Prosecutors said that the defendant confessed to a charge of attempted sexual assault. However, he denied it in court and said he was trying to get her out of the room so he could clean it.

A verdict is due on February 26.
