DUBAI // An Iranian woman is accused of calling another woman and threatening to kill her son, Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.
Prosecutors said the 30-year-old defendant on May 27 last year called her countrywoman and issued the threats but in court on Sunday, she denied the charge.
A 36-year-old woman said she received the first call and the defendant, who identified herself, started questioning her if she knew the defendant’s husband.
“She asked me about my relation with her ex-husband. I told her I didn’t know him at all but she didn’t listen and started insulting me with foul language,” said the 36-year-old.
The woman blocked the defendant’s number but then received several calls from a different number, as did her ex-husband. The defendant then allegedly threatened to kill their son.
“She knew which school our son attended so I got scared and sent him back to Iran with my father,” said the 36-year-old, who also reported the incident to police.
“She called me again after I made the report and threatened me because I reported her.”
It was revealed that the two women are neighbours but no further details about the dispute were disclosed.
A verdict will be issued on July 31.
