ABU DHABI// A Pakistani woman has been sentenced to five years in jail for trafficking three women, including a mother and her 16-year-old daughter, into prostitution.
The court heard that S O met the women in her home country and told them she was recruiting for her beauty salon in Ajman.
She encouraged the mother, SHM, to bring her daughter, SA, with her to the UAE on the premise that she could work in the salon while also continuing her studies.
When they arrived, they were picked up at the airport by Y M, who took their passports from them.
The next day they were forced into prostitution, with them being told to have sex with up to 10 men each day.
SO denied the charges in court, insisting that she recruited the women to work for her beauty salon in Ajman.
She claimed she asked them to return some documents for the salon she gave them for visa procedures but they refused, and then reported her to police.
Her co-defendant YM was cleared of the charges.
Two other people who assisted S O in trafficking the women were sentenced to three years each.
