A woman died after falling from a bridge and being hit by a motorist.
It is believed the Asian woman fell from a bridge on the Sharjah to Al Dhaid Road at about 7:45pm on Saturday.
The 38-year-old was then run over by a motorist, police said.
“The motorist was taken by surprise when the woman’s body landed right in front of him,” a police official said.
Patrols and paramedics went to the scene, while traffic was diverted to prevent congestion and rubbernecking.
Brig Gen Mohammed Bayat, director general of police operations, said that the woman's body has now been referred to forensics.
The investigation is continuing but police are not believed to be looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
