Wet and windy weather to continue across UAE

ABU DHABI // There will be more cloudy skies and scattered rainfall today and tomorrow, weather forecasters say.

Clouds covered all of the UAE yesterday and light to moderate rain was recorded across the country, a spokesman for the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said.

The unstable weather will continue today, with chances of thunder. But conditions should brighten on Monday and remain for the rest of the week.

The unsettled weather can be attributed to clouds moving in from Saudi Arabia, the spokesman said.

Rainfall is also often expected in the transitional period between the seasons.

Despite the clouds and rainfall, temperatures were still high yesterday, with inland areas registering 32°C.

The centre has repeated its warning for motorists to take extra care on roads over the next few days.

Winds will be moderate to fresh in general, kicking up dust and reducing visibility, the spokesman said.

Roads may also be slippery and dangerous from the rain and some water coming from the mountains, he added.

There will be also moderate to rough seas, so people should avoid beach swimming.

Today, temperatures will hit highs of 34°C inland and maximums of 29°C in coastal and mountain regions, the spokesman said.
