Abu Dhabi residents will be able to catch a movie under the stars or cool off at a water park at the Corniche next spring, according to new plans announced on Tuesday by the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities. The Abu Dhabi Corniche Master Plan has been approved by Abu Dhabi Municipality and further details of its first stage, at Lagoon Beach and Blue Walk, were released on Tuesday. After its completion in March 2018, this section will have a theatre, new water sports facilities, an outdoor sports ground, playgrounds, a theatre, a henna area, new restaurants, kiosks and beach shops. For those on the go, there will be bike, boat and Segway rental facilities. The 78,000 square metre area extends from Gate One, near the Spinneys intersection, toward the Hiltonia. “The ultimate objective of these endeavours is to improve the standard of living and welfare of residents and offer modern services that live up to the needs and expectations of the community members,” according to a statement from the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities.
