Business class has new wider seats, and additional social space

The reconfigured aircraft features new, wider Business class seats in a 2-2-2 format. Emirates

Emirates Airlines has completed a revamp of a second Boeing 777 in 35 days, 20 days faster than its first.

The Dubai-based carrier has invested US$150 million (Dh551m) in reconfiguring 10 of their planes, and now has eight more to complete.

The revamp included lowering the number of cabin classes from three to two.

The new, wider business class seats have an additional social area and a raised ceiling.

Economy class has been refreshed with light-blue and beige furnishings.

The revamp was completed within 22 months from the start of planning and involved with more than 30 suppliers and 2,700 parts.

The team also had to secure regulatory approval form the GCAA and FAA to modify the aircraft from their original design.

All of the work was done in-house by Emirates Engineering in its 55-hectare technical facilities in Dubai, and each aircraft required more than 16,000 man hours to complete.
