The United States department of state is seeking proposals for the design and construction of the US Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The American pavilion will emphasise “mobility” which is a sub-theme of the Expo running from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021 to coincide with the UAE’s 50th founding anniversary.
“The pavilion’s architecture and interior design should communicate American progress, ingenuity and innovation in social, physical and mechanical mobility in commerce and the arts,” according to the Department of State.
Over the next two months, the department’s expo unit will hold a series of information sessions in Washington, New York, Detroit, San Francisco and Houston on the US participation in Expo 2020 Dubai. It is seeking proposals for the fundraising, project management, design, construction, operation, and disassembly and removal of the USA Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
In October, the US announced its intention to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai with an official pavilion, contingent upon its ability to attract a viable private sector partner and successfully fundraise for the project.
More than 160 nations have either publicly or privately confirmed they will take part in Expo 2020, which will be the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, according to the Expo 2020 its website.
Under the theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” and the sub-themes of “opportunity, mobility and sustainability,” the six-month exhibition is expected to attract 25 million visits.
