AL AIN // Heavy rain and hail were reported in eastern and southern areas of the country on Thursday.
The UAE’s weather bureau warned people to be “extremely vigilant” because of towering rain clouds forming over the areas, causing wind and blowing dust.
Heavy rain was reported over Khatam Al Shakla, in eastern Al Ain close to the Oman border, at about 5.45pm, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.
The centre posted a video showing hail falling and blowing across in Mezyed, while moderate rain was reported in Umm Ghafa. Both are other areas of Al Ain close to the Oman border.
Light rain was recorded in Wadi Al Helo, in eastern Sharjah.
The centre said that there is a probability of some rainfall in eastern areas on the UAE on Friday and Saturday.
