ABU DHABI // People can expect favourable conditions today as they celebrate the country’s 44th National Day.
Though fog blanketed parts of the country on Wednesday morning, forecasters said the pleasant weather was expected to continue into the weekend.
But it was a different story earlier in the day with Al Hamra, Liwa and parts of the western region hit by thick fog, resulting in visibility dropping to 50 metres.
Police asked motorists to be cautious, though no major accidents were reported.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said some internal parts of the country could experience fog tomorrow, but that no major changes in the weather are expected.
By Friday strong winds could result in blowing dust, NCMS said, and lead to very rough conditions in the Arabian Gulf.
The lowest temperature recorded on Wednesday — 12.2°C was at Jebel Jais, in Ras Al Khaimah.
