Dust storms brought visibility down to less than 1km in parts of the country as forecasters warned the hazy conditions may continue through to Sunday.
Cloudy skies are also forecast for the coming three days.
Temperatures are set to reach up to 49°C inland and 44°C on the coast, dropping as low as 44°C inland and down to 37°C on the coast.
Humidity will reach up to 80 per cent on the coast, and 75 per cent in the interior and increase overnight. South and northwesterly winds will reach up to 38kph.
It will remain “hot to very hot” after Sunday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.
