The leaders of the Northern Emirates paid tribute to the country’s heroes and their families ahead of the second Commemoration Day, to be marked on November 30.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, said the annual celebration of Commemoration Day sprang from the leaders’ firm belief that Emiratis are the pillar of safety, security and immunity of the nation.
“The celebration shows appreciation of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives and showed that nothing is more precious than the nation,” Sheikh Saud said.
He paid tribute to the families of Emirati martyrs who took pride in their sons and were prepared to offer more sacrifices for the nation.
“The celebration shows appreciation of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their country,” Sheikh Saud said.
Sheikh Saud said the heroes set a great example when they advanced into battlefields because they believed in the importance of defending what is right.
“Our wise leadership’s sound decision to counter and deter the enemies of what is right has had great influence on the morale of Emiratis,” he said. “And defending their brothers in Yemen is part and parcel of the approach to defend the sovereignty and security of our beloved state.”
Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, said the UAE’s heroes were a source of pride for him and every Emirati, because they sacrificed their lives serving the homeland.
Dr Sheikh Sultan expressed his greetings to the heroes’ families, and said their loved ones’ sacrifice allowed their names to be engraved in the hearts of all citizens.
“The highest sacrifice to make for your country is to generously sacrifice your soul for your homeland, which is truly exemplified by our heroes in the Armed Forces who are working with dedication, devotion and loyalty to their country,” he said.
“We are proud of them and their generosity and we support them because they are the UAE’s strong shield. Let us continue together boosting our strong march towards a brighter future for our homeland.”
Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, said that the participation of the UAE forces with the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia was another confirmation that the people of the UAE would not hesitate to protect their national security.
“The honourable performance of our troops in brotherly Yemen was and still is the focus of everyone’s appreciation and admiration for the efficiency of our army, and the martyrdom of our heroes is evidence of their courage,” he said. “Commemoration Day is a time to honour the loyal men who sacrificed their lives in order to keep the UAE flag flying high.”
Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, said: “It is a pride for us to witness the honouring of martyrs of the homeland in recognition and appreciation of their sacrifices and acts of patriotism, as they represent an immortal example of national unity and belonging. They also translate the strong will and determination of our Armed Forces servicemen.”
In Ajman, Ruler Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi expressed his pride for the heroes. “They died while raising the banner of the right, returning legitimacy in Yemen and while defending our Gulf,” he said. “They wrote with their blood an epic of sacrifice and steadfastness. For them, every day in the battle ground was a day of pride and honour.”
