Two tourists arrested for ‘raiding Sharjah homes’



SHARJAH // Two tourists have been arrested for allegedly breaking into homes around the emirate.

Georgians G N and K S are accused of raiding homes and making off with electronics, watches, gold, cameras, jewellery and cash. Police said the burglaries were carried out in a professional manner with very few clues left behind.

However, officers were able to track the men to a hotel in Ajman were they were arrested in coordination with Ajman police.

Police found a large quantity of stolen items inside their room.

The men, who entered the country on tourist visas, confessed to the break-ins and have been referred to Sharjah prosecution.

“Arresting the suspects gave us an insight into the advanced techniques used in their criminal activities,” said Colonel Jihad bin Sahoo, director of CID.

The emirate’s police has launched the ‘My security is my neighbour’s security’ campaign encourages residents to report suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods.
