Two men to be charged over fake number plate with new Dubai logo

DUBAI // Two men have been referred to the traffic court on charges of making a fake number plate with the new Dubai logo on it.

Chief traffic prosecutor Salah Bu Farousha said that the case came to light last December when a police officer spotted the plate and stopped the driver. Investigations uncovered that the plate was fake.

The 21-year-old driver, from a GCC country, confessed that he had bought the fake plate number from a 27-year-old Arab.

“He confessed that he had been to a shop selling accessories for cars in Al Mamzar, where he saw several plate numbers with the new Dubai logo then he was offered the fake plate number in return for Dh600,” said Mr Bu Farousha.

The prosecutor added that this crime is punishable by prison or a fine not less than Dh20,000, or both.
