Two men tell Dubai court they were ‘at work’ and could not have asaulted woman

Two men accused of trying to assault a woman have claimed they were both in work during the time.

Dubai // Two men accused of trying to assault a woman swore to the court that they were both still at work at the time of the alleged incident.

The Dubai Criminal Court was told that Pakistanis M B, 25, and A K, 33, both drivers, met a woman while walking home and “flirted” with her.

Then one of them grabbed her and tried to pull her away from the street, the court heard.

The 29-year-old Filipina victim told prosecutors that she was going home at about 2am on August 11 when A K said hello to her in a flirting tone.

M B then grabbed her by the hand. He tried to pull her but she started screaming and the man let go and they both then fled.

She reported them to police and in court A K produced a document stating his working hours.

“You will see on the document that I was still at work at the time of the alleged incident. I swear by god’s name that I have nothing to do with it,” A K told the court.

M B made the same claim but could not provide any proof.

Prosecutors charged M B with sexually assaulting the woman by grabbing her hand, while A K was charged with breaching the woman’s modesty.

A verdict is expected on November 28.
