RAS AL KHAIMAH // Two men have appeared in court accused of illegally taking the prescription painkiller tramadol.

A H, 25, and W M, 23, both Emirati, were arrested in March this year after police found the pills in a car A H was driving. At the time, W M was found to be under the influence of drugs.

RAK Criminal Court heard that A H took tramadol to ease back and bone pain, as well as nerve damage.

His lawyer submitted six medical prescriptions from government and private hospitals to the judge.

W M initially denied the charges but later admitted them in court.

The case was adjourned until November 29.
