SHARJAH // Two people have been arrested on suspicion of breaking into several shops and stealing their contents.

The suspects, one Arab and one from Bangladesh, were discovered after police received a tip-off.

During investigations a team from the thefts crime section at the local CID came across the getaway car used by three suspects. The car had a fake number plate that matched another car whose owner had a police record and had since been deported.

Two suspects fled the scene, with one escaping. The remaining two gang members were taken into custody.

Police searching the car found gloves and tools the suspects allegedly used to commit the crimes. After initially denying the break-ins and thefts, the duo confessed to carrying out the crimes along with their partner who escaped.
