A former president of the Indian Association in Dubai was killed in a road accident in Canada. Canadian news outlet cp24.com reported that Jasjit Singh Jaaj, 73, was hit by a lorry while he took an evening walk on Monday in Mississauga, Toronto. He was taken to hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after. Canadian police said Mr Jaaj was attempting to cross a six-lane highway, instead of using a pedestrian crossing, when the accident occurred. "The general traffic travels at 60kph and unfortunately this gentleman got about two lanes in and was struck by a vehicle travelling on the roadway," Constable Danny Marttini told cp24.com. Mr Jaaj was a popular member of the Indian community in Dubai and was renowned for his sense of humour and intelligence. In addition to his role as president of the Indian Association, Mr Jaaj was also the group chief executive of real estate firm RSG International. The company was behind several high-profile real estate projects in Dubai.
