Female Etihad pilots give rare view of A380 taking off for Paris

Aviation site, JustPlanes, posted the behind the scenes look at what it takes to get an A380 off the ground

It is a rare insight into what happens inside an Etihad jet during take-off.

Footage posted online showed the checks, detail and awesome engineering that goes into getting an Airbus A380 off the ground.

Posted by aviation website JustPlanes, the video shows an all-female crew with an Emirati first officer taking off flight EY037 on a rainy day from Abu Dhabi to Paris.

Both pilot and first officer calmly examine the weather and note some turbulence is expected later in the flight.

Flight paths are entered and cross-checked, return routes examined, fuel quantity assessed, windows and doors shut before they push back from the gate.

As the super-jumbo turns onto the runway, the sense of anticipation is clear.

"Parking brake off," notes Shaima. "Take-off."

Four powerful engines crank into action, the power surges, the engines shriek and the video captures the power as the jet rumbles down the runway.

The computer then sounds: "V1, rotate" signalling the pilot must lift up the nose.

Then it is wheels up - and another moment of aviation magic is made as the jet soars out of Abu Dhabi.

The video, which appears to be of a training flight, also shows the return journey from Paris.

Etihad has about 10 of the A380s but its manufacturer Airbus said the double-decker will be discontinued in a few years because it has received no new orders.
