Two petrol station employees had a lucky escape when a car careered into a row of fuel pumps in Sharjah. The men leapt out of the way as the vehicle smashed into a pillar on the forecourt. The accident took place at 11.45pm on October 13 on Al Ittihad Road. CCTV footage from the petrol station was shared online. The fuel inside the pumps did not ignite. Sharjah Police confirmed the driver, who sped off after the crash, was arrested several days later and referred to prosecutors. “The driver failed to control his car, which crashed on to the pavement and a road sign before it collided with the pumps,” an official said. The attendants, an Indian and a Filipino, escaped with minor injuries caused by flying debris. They were treated at nearby Al Qassimi Hospital. Police urged drivers to stick to speed limits or face fines and potential jail time.
