Infrastructure projects and transportation technology were discussed between the UAE ambassador to the United States and the US Secretary of Transportation on Friday.
Yousef Al Otaiba met with Elaine Chao in Washington to discuss significant trade ties between both countries and ways to expand their bilateral economic relationship.
They explored opportunities for collaboration on infrastructure projects as well as new transportation technology, including autonomous vehicles and drones.
Mr Al Otaiba highlighted the UAE's role as a hub for US businesses, with major ports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
He also spoke of the mutual benefits of the two countries' strong commercial aviation relationship, which supports hundreds of thousands of US jobs.
Last year, bilateral trade between the UAE and US reached $26 billion. The UAE has been the US' largest export market in the Middle East and North Africa since 2009, and aircraft are the top category of exports.
