Three-year-old killed after being run over by uncle in RAK

RAS AL KHAIMAH // A three-year-old Emirati was killed after being ran over by her uncle’s car while she played outside her home in Al Seh, police have said.

The uncle was reversing his car on Tuesday evening and did not notice his niece was playing behind the vehicle.

The girl was taken to Saqr hospital suffering injuries to her head and chest areas and later died.

RAK Police urged residents to be extremely cautious when driving close to where children are playing. In November last year, A 16-month-old Emirati boy died in RAK after his aunt reversed her car over him.

In a separate incident, the Saqr hospital’s emergency room treated a four-year-old girl who suffered severe cuts and multiple fractures to her leg after falling from a dune buggy driven by her aunt in the desert.

The child’s father said his daughter was sat in her aunt’s lap when she fell underneath the buggy. She was taken to hospital and underwent a six hour operation on her leg and is now in a cast.
