Three seriously injured in RAK car crash

RAS AL KHAIMAH // Three people were seriously injured in a car accident involving two vehicles, one of which split in two from the impact.

The driver of the first car, a 19-year-old Emirati, and a 17-year-old Arab passenger sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 34-year-old South Asian, was also seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The accident happened on Saturday on Al Rams-Shamal Road. Col Ali Al Alkim, director-general of RAK traffic police, said ambulances, rescue teams and police cars were dispatched to the scene.

In an initial investigation, it was concluded that the Emirati motorist was driving on Al Rams Road towards Shamal and lost control of the car, hitting a lamp post before colliding with the vehicle driven by the Asian driver, which was headed in the opposite direction. The Emirati’s vehicle was split in two.

Police urged motorists to avoid speeding and respect traffic rules and regulations at all times.
