Supercar for hire: Lamborghini taxis at Abu Dhabi race weekend

A special fleet of around 10 supercars have been put into service as part of the emirate's Formula One preparations.

The fleet of super taxis have been capturing the attention of F1 drivers themselves at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. 

Have you been lucky enough to ride in one of Abu Dhabi’s supercar taxis during the F1 weekend?

A special fleet of supercars has been rolled out for those who don't just want to see swanky cars on the track.

The Lamborghini, Maserati, Corvette, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Mercedes vehicles, which are available for hire via the Careem app, are ferrying passengers to and from the Yasalam after-race concerts.

But you will have to move fast, as the supercar taxis are only available for hire until midnight tonight.

The initiative is all part of Flash Entertainment's race preparations.

A picture featuring the supercar taxis outside Emirates Palace hotel has emerged on Twitter, thanks to a picture snapped by Formula One driver, Pierre Gasly.

In the background, an orange Lamborghini can be seen queued up in front of another black supercar taxi with the message "Yasalam Super Taxi" emblazoned on the vehicle’s passenger door.

The city receives a significant visitor boost thanks to the annual event with many hotels reporting almost 100 per cent occupancy, as fans travel from across the globe to attend the last race of the season.
