DUBAI // The speed limit on Umm Suqeim Road stretching from Al Sufouh Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road has been raised to 90kmph from the current 80kmph.
The revision will take effect from February 6 covering a section of Al Qudra Road from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Emirates Road, according to the Roads and Transport Authority.
The speed limit on the remaining Al Qudra Road section running from Emirates Road up to Seih Assalam roundabout will be raised to 100kmph from 90kmph.
The decision to change the speed limit depended on the designed road speed, urbanisation, pedestrian movement, number of crashes and traffic volume, said Maitha bin Udai, chief executive of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency.
“One of the key tools of controlling the speed is the radar system and studies focused on the grace margin between road and grace speed,” she said.
