Six injured as bus carrying labourers ploughs into back of car transporter

Some of the Asians taken to hospital have severe injuries, police said.

ABU DHABI // Six people have been injured after a crash between a labourer’s bus and a car transporter on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ghuweifat road.

The men, who are all from Asian countries, suffered injuries ranging from severe to mild in the smash on Monday, reported Al Ittihad, The National's Arabic sister paper.

Police said that preliminary investigations showed that the incident occurred because the bus driver failed to leave sufficient distance between his vehicle and the transporter in front of him.

Brig Gen Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaili, deputy director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, said emergency response vehicles were quickly at the scene and urged drivers to follow road safety rules and maintain an adequate distance between vehicles.
