Sharjah Police impound 20 vehicles in a day over speed boosters

The vehicles were impounded after residents complained about noise disturbances, police said.

Sharjah Police impounded 20 vehicles equipped with speed boosters in a single day.

Brig Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, chief of Sharjah Police, told Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National, that 12 of the vehicles were impounded on University City Road and eight others in Al Talaa and Al Khazamiya areas.

The vehicles upset residents and threatened other road users.

Brig Al Shamsi said they would take stern measures against offenders, who will be referred to public prosecution. He urged the public to report breaches to police.
