Sharjah Police are cracking down on illegal parking around mosques during Ramadan. The force is targeting those who double park or block traffic around places of worship during evening taraweeh prayers - which are only held during the holy month. A fine of Dh500 and four black points await those who flout traffic laws, police said. The clampdown against illegal parking is part of a wider police campaign against "negative behaviour" frequently seen during Ramadan. Police are also on the lookout for begging, illegal vendors and fireworks being set off in residential areas. Inspection campaigns for these offences will continue until the end of the holy month.
