Road safety campaign goes on tour of Dubai

DUBAI // A mobile clinic is touring the emirate as part of a five-year road safety campaign targeting young people.

It will visit education centres to promote road safety and teach basic first aid and life support as part of the safety drive, Strap – Safety Tips for Road Accident Prevention.

Free primary medical care will be offered.

The campaign is an initiative between a private company, D M Healthcare, which owns the clinic, and government bodies including the Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Municipality and the Roads and Transport Authority.

Dubai Modern Education School in Al Mizhar is also taking part.

“Safety on the road, whether it concerns a driver or a pedestrian, is such a significant matter, yet many take it lightly,” said Dr Manal Al Taryam, chief executive of primary health care at the Dubai Health Authority.

“These campaigns are a direct and effective method to reach people and educate them about the importance of following road safety rules.”

The initiative will run alongside an anti-tobacco campaign.

Last year, the mobile clinic helped in health campaigns screening people for diabetes and hypertension.
