A section of Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street has closed in the capital for eight months. Motorists can no longer access Al Nast Street from Zayed the First Street due to renovation works at the adjacent Qasr Al Hosn historical site. The Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation said the stree will be partially closed for around eight months starting from March 30 till December 1 2018. Qasr Al Hosn, a coral and sea stone watchtower, was built in the 1760s. It was the first permanent structure built in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The project includes reconstruction work on the chambers of what used to be the National Consultative Council – the predecessor to the Federal National Council, and the Cultural Foundation building.
