Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate will amend the speed limit on the Abu Dhabi-Dubai road, specifically in Al Raha from Al Qanat bridge, also known as the Channel bridge, leading to the internal roads of the capital.
The official speed limit will be reduced to 120 kph, from 140 kph.
Brig Gen Hussein Al Harthi said the change would be permanent due to the numerous accidents on that stretch of motorway.
Last week, one person died and two women were injured in a five-car crash near Al Bandar just before Al Raha Beach, forcing the motorway to close.
Radars will be set to 121 kph.
The speed limit changes start from Al Qanat bridge, adjacent to Khalifa City A and Al Bandar and continues onto Abu Dhabi island.
Drivers were urged to comply with the speed limit.
