DUBAI// A new bus route serving the Al Baraha and Al Muteena neighbourhoods is to be launched this week, the Roads and Transport Authority has announced.
The new F01 bus route begins operation on Tuesday from Union Metro Station.
“The new F01 metro feeder route sets off from the Union Metro Station and passes through Al Baraha and Al Muteena districts,” said Adel Mohammed Shakri, director of planning and business development, RTA.
As well as this new route, the number of buses serving other routes in the city will be adjusted in line with demand.
“The service on other routes will also be improved involving increasing the frequency of routes 365, 366 and E303; and reducing the frequency of other routes namely: 64A, 24, 27 and 300.”
The move comes after field surveys and feedback from passengers.
“The RTA is keen on expanding the reach of the public transport network to match the urban and demographic growth in the emirate,” said Mr Shakri.
The overall aim of the RTA is to encourage more people to switch from cars and use public transport.
“Obviously the more public transport riders we have, the less traffic congestion will be experienced by our city, let alone the lowering number of accidents, and the environmental pollution generated by the massive numbers of private cars,” said Mr Sharkri.
