More than 3,000 vehicles have been seized on the Abu Dhabi to Al Sila road in the past 10 months for having unfit tyres.
Four accidents caused by faulty tyres led to the deaths of two people and two others were seriously injured. Tyre issues caused 278 accidents.
Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate said 3,199 vehicles had been seized.
Col Hamad Nasser Al Balushi, head of the Peripheral Areas Traffic Department, warned motorists that having faulty tyres could result in a fine of up to Dh200 and having your vehicle impounded for a week.
