Motorists in Abu Dhabi will enjoy free public parking over the Islamic New Year, also known as the Al Hijri New Year Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre on Wednesday said surface public parking bays will be free from Sunday, August 23 until 7:59am on Monday, August 24. Public bus services will run to a Friday schedule, while ferry schedules between Jebel Dhanna port and Dalma Island and from Saadiyat to Al Aliah Island will operate as normal. The centre urged motorists to park in designated spots, not to block vehicles or traffic flow and adhere to regulations regarding resident parking, which operates from 9:00pm to 8:00am in certain areas. These areas are marked with signs. Muslims do not mark the Islamic event with celebrations.
