DUBAI // Four people were killed and two seriously injured in traffic accidents in Dubai over three days this week, and police have urged motorists to follow speed limits.
On Sunday, a motorist crashed into a stopped vehicle on Sheikh Zayed Road near Jebel Ali at about 2.45pm, said Col Saif Al Mazrouei, director of the Dubai Police traffic department.
“A car, which had been involved in a small accident, stopped on the left side, where the fast lane is,” Col Al Mazrouei said. “A man was killed and a woman injured when their vehicle crashed into the stopped car.”
A lorry crashed into a smaller vehicle stopped on the hard shoulder on Monday at 12.21pm, also on Sheikh Zayed Road.
“The lorry driver sustained moderate injuries, while the driver of the Hyundai was killed,” said Col Al Mazrouei.
A man was killed on Tuesday morning when his vehicle, a Nissan, flipped over and hit a barrier.
“The man was on Al Qudra Street towards Emirates Road, and he suddenly swerved and flipped over, hitting the metal barrier and a lamp post,” Col Al Mazrouei said.
A motorcyclist was killed at 5.45am on Tuesday when he crashed into a metal barrier on Al Khawaneej Road, said Col Al Mazrouei. The man died at hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
