F1 in Schools National Championship back on track in the UAE

Hundreds of students from across the country are getting revved up for the F1 in Schools National Championship taking place at Yas Marina Circuit through Tuesday.

Hundreds of pupils from across the country have been revving up for the Formula One in Schools National Championship at Yas Marina Circuit until tomorrow.

Teams started competing on Sunday in three categories – professional, rookie and primary bloodhound – to become UAE Champions.

With the title comes an invitation to represent the country at the F1 in Schools World Finals this year in Abu Dhabi.

The programme has seen widespread success in the country, with hundreds of students taking part since the competition began locally in 2010.

“It is an amazing opportunity for budding engineers to understand the processes that go into designing, manufacturing and testing machines,” said Gautham Sajith of Team Pistonari, from Gems Our Own High School.

Arif Sayani, managing director of engineering company Trinity Holdings, said: “Encouraging the next generation of engineers is something Trinity is extremely dedicated to.

“Our engineers teach them to use the latest manufacturing systems and technology in place to bring their dream cars to reality.

“We see great potential in these students, who could become the engineering wizards of the future, and this has been our motive behind sponsoring students for the F1 Challenge for a third consecutive year now.”
