A 40-year-old Emirati was killed on Friday after his car crashed near exit 93 on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Umm Al Quwain.
Lt Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of Traffic and Patrols Department of the UAQ Police Directorate General, said emergency services were dispatched at about 9am.
Al-Ittihad, Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National, reported that the motorist was heading to Sharjah from Ras Al Khaimah when his car swerved off the road and rolled over on to the sand, due to a lapse of attention.
