An Emirates flight from Dubai to London had to be diverted due to high winds — as an emergency was declared as the plane was running low on fuel. The aircraft twice tried to land at Gatwick Airport on Friday, but was unable to do so safely due to the hazardous weather in the UK. Flight EK15 was diverted to Manchester, where it landed safely. An Emirates spokesperson confirmed that the flight had be diverted due to the stormy weather. “Emirates can confirm that flight EK015 from Dubai to London Gatwick on February 8 was diverted to Manchester due to high winds. "We made alternative arrangements for affected passengers to get to their destination. The return flight EK016 was rescheduled to operate on February 9. "Affected passengers were accommodated overnight in hotels. Passengers travelling to Dubai were offered rebooking on alternative flights where applicable.”
