ABU DHABI // Nine new bus services have been added to the transport network in the capital, officials announced yesterday.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport said in addition to the new services, it had modified 26 existing ones and cancelled two others.
“This step represents a link in the chain of infrastructure development of the public transport services, which is considered the most commonly used method of transport,” said Mohammed Nasser Al Otaiba, general manager of the department’s bus office.
The new services include routes from the city to Dalma Mall, Mohammed bin Zayed City, ICAD Residential City, Abu Dhabi University, Masdar City, Shalilah East, Al Falah Al Jadeedah and Al Wathba Souq.
Existing routes have been rerouted or extended, or their frequency or stops have been changed. Service number 116 has been replaced by numbers 102 and 115, while service number 150 has been replaced by 155, 210, 404, 405 and 406.
The department aims to connect all city areas to meet the needs of people using public transport, Mr Al Otaiba said, by continuing to increase and modify the number of services.
