DUBAI // A driver and his eight passengers were trapped in a minibus after it crashed into two other vehicles on Sheikh Zayed Road, police said yesterday.
“Rescuers had to cut the front seat of the vehicle to extricate the driver, in his 40s, who was trapped inside the minibus after colliding with other vehicles,” said Col Ahmad Bu Ruqaiba, deputy director of the search and rescue department at Dubai Police.
He said police received a call about a major accident between three vehicles on Sheikh Zayed Road on Tuesday night.

“When we reached the scene, the trapped driver, who was Asian, was unconscious. The eight passengers were trapped in the minibus,” Col Bu Ruqaiba said.
Paramedics treated the driver at the scene before transferring him to Rashid Hospital. The eight passengers did not suffer any injuries and were safely removed from the vehicle.
The cause of the accident is still unclear.
