DUBAI // A human trafficker brought a woman to the UAE with a false passport before forcing her into prostitution, a court heard yesterday.

F M, 38, from Pakistan, forged documents for her compatriot, changing her name and age to make it look as if they were sisters then brought her to Dubai, prosecutors told the Criminal Court.

The victim said she was sent to customers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah but that one day a customer in Abu Dhabi refused to drive her home to Dubai and drove her to the bus station instead.

At the bus station a man noticed her crying and asked her what was wrong. She broke down and told him everything and he took her to a police station.

She told police the woman had threatened to harm her and her family if she did not prostitute herself.

Officers arrested the woman in a sting operation and she was charged with human trafficking and facilitating prostitution. They also arrested a third woman, K A, 20, also from Pakistan, who was charged with prostitution.

At the Criminal Court neither was present to enter a plea.

The next hearing was scheduled for October 27.
