DUBAI // A drunk tourist has been jailed for stabbing a bouncer after being refused entry to a nightclub because he was too young.

M H, 20, from Saudi Arabia, stabbed Egyptian doorman B A, 26, outside the club in Bur Dubai on March 25 after buying the knife from a nearby supermarket.

“The defendant came drunk to the nightclub where I work. I didn’t allow him to enter due to his age and he started swearing at me and left,” said the doorman. “He later came back and stabbed me from behind in my shoulder.”

Receptionist A A said that he saw the victim with another security guard talking to the defendant outside the nightclub.

“I heard M H swearing and the manager ordered me to call the police,” said the guard, 38. “I heard the cashier scream. I then turned around and saw the defendant pulling out the knife from the back of B A before stepping back and trying to stab him again.”

The bouncer managed to push him away before other security guards wrestled him to the ground.

At the Dubai Criminal Court, M H denied a charge of attempted murder. He was jailed for a year and will be deported after his sentence.
